A New Look into the World of HealthCare with Millennium Family Practice

Read Time:3 Minute, 30 Second

Dr. Njideka Udochi is founder of Millennium Family Practice, but she is much more than that. At Millennium,  they implement utmost compassion and care in regards to their practice. As you walk into the clinic, patients feel a sense of ease and thus, making the experience less worrisome. “I wanted to ensure that when patients walk in, their minds are at ease. Not having to worry about anything else but their health, that’s ultimately why they’re here. I’ve assembled a team with different skill sets and backgrounds so that no matter the circumstances, we have the skills to help.”

Dr. Udochi started the Millennium clinic over sixteen years ago. Since its beginnings, countless patients have considered Dr. Udochi family. “My belief is to put my patients first, treat them like family. We treat people in all stages of their lives and I think this is why we continue to see so many returning patients over the years. We’re like a family here!”

Millennium is a family medical practice, but is so much more than meets the eye. On any given day, Dr. Udochi treats a variety of medical issues, including broken arms, addictions, HIV, and food allergies just to name a few. “With the tools and technology here, we’ve been able to treat a variety of issues. Families, the elderly, even sport physicals all take place here. We’ve essentially offered a full-stock clinic in terms of capabilities.” With all these resources at her fingertips, Dr. Udochi has been able to reach patients near and far.

The work done at the clinic has allowed patients of global proportion access to Millennium’s services. The presence of international patients is a part of Millennium’s capabilities as they have patients in one hundred and fourteen countries. “On any given day, I could be speaking to a woman from Somalia, a man from Pakistan, or a boy from America. It’s a fascinating aspect of the field I never thought I’d get into, but that’s why I love it. The challenge of handling international causes just goes to prove that there aren’t any limitations when you put your mind to something.” By breaking these barriers down, this allows Dr. Udochi to focus on what truly matters; the people.

“We do not treat diseases, we take care of people.” Dr. Udochi quotes. This principle as well as providing comprehensive care as opposed to an individualised approach is how Udochi has obtained the 2021 Family Physician of the Year award. Through her time as a medical professional, she has seen many aspects of the business. By taking all of her experience into Millenium, she has established her practice through what she wants to see change within the field of medicine. “My work isn’t done when the patient leaves, my work is done when they start to heal or treatment is implemented. I believe that after care is just as important as the initial visit and if you don’t proceed with follow ups, the work done within these walls would be pointless.”

Armed with this principle, it isn’t surprising that she has garnered praise from not only her patients. In addition to her favorable reviews from her patients, her peers also see the work she has done within the community.

Dr. Udochi’s approach shouldn’t be uncommon, but it is. As the world of healthcare becomes more difficult to navigate, Millennium Family Practice strives to maintain the level of humanity they have become synonymous with. By implementing equality as a standard, she uses her skills to provide dignified, respectful treatment for vulnerable patients, including those who are recovering addicts or are living with HIV.

“I want everyone to feel welcome here,” Dr. Udochi says. “Whether it’s a scraped knee or a skin lesion, I want people to feel confident when they come see me. This practice was built on being an avenue of health and I’ve worked extremely hard to make sure of that.” She and her staff are efficient and kind, making Millenium Family Practice an idyllic spot to call your clinic in the Columbia, Maryland area.
