We spent a fun afternoon hanging out with movie/TV actress Demi Mann, who was gracious enough to give us a tour of her beautiful closet. Demi, who has lead TV roles on the upcoming Emergency LA, Starblessed, and Astral Princess, showed us into her walk-in closet so that we could see her collection of dresses, gowns, and shoes from Zuhair Murad, Jimmy Choo, Are You Am I, Alice and Olivia, to Christian Louboutin.
“I am a bit of a clothes and shoes horse,” she confessed, sitting back on a settee and watching as we looked through some truly stunning outfits. “I wasn’t when I was younger, but in college, I developed a taste for quality, and it’s taken off from there.” Culturally, Demi wasn’t allowed to wear certain clothing styles. “I felt a little bit ashamed because of that and to develop my personal style I had to overcome what I felt. I am a much more confident person now.”
Demi’s dreamy style has been inspired by her mother and Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and The City. Her desire to feel glamorous and magical matches her bubbly personality and disposition. “I love Jimmy Choo’s! I slip on a pair of sparkly heels and I just feel so empowered. When I wear them on red carpet events, I feel like a princess,” she says, beaming. Glamorous television and films have a style that she appreciates and wants to replicate. “My very first Jimmy Choo’s are silver with a platform and a pin thin stiletto heel.They are fascinating, they sparkle, go with everything, and the best thing is that they are so comfortable; I can actually walk in them. I wore them to the Critics Choice Awards and on other red carpets as well and they are great and easy to wear.”
Sometimes to feel glamorous, all you need is something simple that makes you feel great about yourself and for Demi, that can mean a little black dress emulating Audrey Hepburn’s class and intrigue in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. “I love silk slip dresses too, I have this classic one from the brand Nili Notan, it’s navy full length silk dress featuring a V-neck line and adjustable thin straps. It fits just right. I wore it to the Hollywood independent Film Festival Awards on the red carpet. I was standing there with the director and my fellow cast members to pick up the numerous awards that Frank and Ava won. It was an honor and I wore the right dress for that special occasion,” Demi says, remembering, fondly.
Dresses and gowns are something that makes her feel classy and elegant. “I have this gown from one of my favorite designers, Zuhair Murad. It’s a hot pink color with silver jewels on it around the deep neckline. It’s a dream! Simple, graceful and beautiful. It’s nipped in just right at the waist and features a full length skirt that drapes perfectly,” Demi says while pulling the garment out of her closet. “I love British designers like Julien Mcdonald because he makes these beautiful dresses that are just divine and Alexander Mcqueen gowns are just amazing, they are so fitted and precisely tailored.” A number of other designers that Demi loves are Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior, For Love and Lemons, and Are You Am I. “I also love Manish Malhotra! Amongst his designs, the cocktail sarees are my favorite. They are sequineed to the gods, it’s timeless Indian couture. It’s simplicity and elegance with beautiful chiffon materials; I love his cult classic sarees,” She adds, her face lighting up.
With Demi’s glamorous job, she has a very popular instagram account with over 115K followers. She gets to partner with a lot of people that give her clothes to model on her account. “It would be great if I could keep all the clothes from the films and television series I’ve been on,” She laughed. “But, I’m very grateful that I get to collaborate with clothing companies via my Instagram as I have a lot of followers and together have over 2 million views. I actually got to keep this beautiful luxury robe styled gown from a photoshoot that I did recently. It’s beautiful, and handmade and detailed in Beverly Hills with Chantilly which is a delicate French lace. I can wear it to so many occasions from red carpet events to the beach. It has a peach nude undertone that compliments my skin color, it also has that ancient queen feeling. I actually wore it for a big audition that I did for a huge DC Comics Movie that I can’t talk about right now,” Demi said.
