Modernizing Alternative Funding: How Systematic Training Meets Artificial Intelligence

By Editorial Staff August 15, 2026 3 min read

The alternative business funding ecosystem offers essential capital for entrepreneurs operating outside traditional banking systems, yet the brokerage network frequently struggles with manual underwriting tasks, disconnected lender lists, and communication bottlenecks. Ali Jozani, founder of The Funded Method, identified these persistent bottlenecks as a prime venture opportunity and created an AI-native training platform to address them.

Operated via JZNI Holdings LLC, The Funded Method prepares newcomers for the alternative funding sector by combining classic underwriting principles with modern automated workflows that manage client onboarding, lender pairing, document submissions, and tracking sequences.

From Pre-Med Aspirations to Funder Operations

Jozani’s path into financial services diverged significantly from conventional expectations. Born in Iran and relocating to the U.S. at age ten, he initially pursued pre-med coursework to satisfy standard immigrant career expectations. However, two early business ventures redirected his professional trajectory.

First, an Amazon FBA venture ended in failure. Second, he generated notable profits trading digital assets before incurring substantial losses on that position. These early trials taught him a vital lesson: short-term speculation may produce temporary gains, but long-lasting businesses demand disciplined operational systems.

Jozani subsequently spent over five years running operations at a seven-figure alternative funding brokerage. During that tenure, he managed roughly 95% of the firm’s overall transaction flow, onboarded and coached more than 200 remote sales professionals, structured the internal underwriting department, and cultivated direct partnerships with over 200 individual lenders.

This deep immersion gave him working knowledge of diverse financial instruments, including merchant cash flows, business lines of credit, Small Business Administration loans, home equity lines of credit, and zero-percent credit card stacking. More importantly, he learned that understanding financial products is insufficient; brokers must also identify which funders favor specific business profiles, comprehend how lenders evaluate risk, and keep paperwork smoothly moving through the pipeline.

“There are more than 200 lenders in this market,” Jozani noted. “Most new brokers know ten of them, and they wonder why their approval rate is low.”

Bridging the Operational Gap

That extensive market exposure motivated the creation of The Funded Method. According to Jozani, alternative funding remains one of the final segments of modern finance where core duties are executed manually. Brokers often evaluate bank statements by hand, submit paperwork to lenders individually, and watch viable deals collapse simply because an item was overlooked.

“This industry is one of the last places in finance where a person still reads a bank statement by hand,” Jozani stated. “That is not tradition, that is a gap.”

The company was designed to resolve this operational gap without removing human critical thinking from the equation. The core offering is a 12-week program that teaches foundational underwriting principles prior to integrating an AI-powered tech stack. Participants learn how to evaluate a business, interpret funder criteria, manage intakes, conduct submissions, nurture lender relationships, and automate follow-ups.

The structure of the curriculum is deliberate. Jozani maintains that brokers must understand the underlying mechanics of financial decisions before deploying automation tools.

“AI should do the underwriting math. The broker still has to understand the decision,” he explained. “Skip that order and you have built a very fast way to be wrong.”

Ultimately, the objective is to help new brokers secure their initial funded deal within approximately 90 days, bypassing months of trial-and-error training.

Emphasizing Systems Over Sales Tactics

Jozani also emphasizes that sustainable success as a funding broker relies on repeatable processes rather than hard-selling techniques. “Every broker fails the same way,” he remarked. “Not from a lack of hustle, from a lack of process. The deal dies in the follow-up, not the pitch.”

Alongside its main cohort, The Funded Method offers self-paced educational resources and releases free industry guides, such as The 2026 Broker Stack—an annual briefing introducing newcomers to the technologies, funding products, lenders, and operating systems shaping the current marketplace.

As artificial intelligence continues to transform financial services, Jozani’s framework provides a practical model for integration: automate administrative tasks, preserve human judgment, and train operators thoroughly enough to recognize when automated insights require review.

Through The Funded Method, Jozani seeks to build a clear entry point into an industry that has historically depended on informal networks, expensive mistakes, and years of difficult operational exposure.
