U.S. stocks rallied sharply on Wednesday, clinching their biggest gains since Nov. 10 on the final trading day of the month, as stocks celebrated Fed Chairman Jerome Powell’s comments that the central bank is leaning toward smaller interest-rate hikes in December. The S&P 500 SPX closed 122.47 points, or 3.1%, higher at 4,080.10, while gaining 5.4% for the month. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA finished up 737.24 points, or 2.2%, to 34,589.77, with a gain of 5.7% for the month. The Nasdaq Composite COMP gained 484.22 points, or 4.4%, to 11,468.00, with a monthly gain of 4.4%.
