Betting markets assign 91% probability that Boris Johnson will leave this year as ministers quit

Read Time:36 Second

Betting markets were assigning a 91% probability that Boris Johnson will quit as prime minister, as the tally of ministers quitting has reached 15 as John Glen announced he was leaving. The wave of quits started with the resignations on Tuesday of Sajid Javid and Rishi Sunak. The latest issue with Johnson, who headed off calls to quit earlier over partying during lockdown, is the changing story of what the government knew about a deputy whip who resigned in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations. Broader financial markets have been little moved by the Johnson situation.
