Read Time:48 Second

Shares of NXP Semiconductor NV are up 8.7% in Thursday morning trading on heavy volume. The stock is on track for its largest single-day percentage gain since it rose 9.0% on March 15, 2021. Within the first hour of trading, NXP saw volume of more than 3.3 million shares, already above its average daily volume of 2.8 million shares. A Wednesday blog post from AsianTechPress said that Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. was “reportedly” planning to purchase NXP. The article did not have a timestamp indicating exactly when on Wednesday it was published and didn’t have a formal byline aside from an indication on the homepage saying that the article was by “Vincy.” NXP is the biggest gainer in the S&P 500 Wednesday morning, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
