Six children die with Strep A bacterial infection

There has been at least one death of a child in Wales but the data is not yet available for other nations.

Six children have died with an invasive condition caused by Strep A – including five under 10-year-olds in England – the UK Health Security Agency has said.

There has also been at least one death of a child in Wales but the data is not yet available for other nations.

Usually Strep A infections are mild but in a very small number of cases patients can become seriously ill with an invasive infection.
