CDC committee recommends Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine

Read Time:38 Second

Shares of Novavax Inc. jumped 11.9% in trading on Tuesday after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices voted in favor of the company’s COVID-19 vaccine. The next step is for CDC director Rochelle Walensky to decide whether to sign off on the decision; if she does, the vaccine will then be made available to adults in the U.S. The Food and Drug Administration granted emergency authorization to the two-dose, protein vaccine last week. Novavax’s stock has tumbled 59.4% this year, while the broader S&P 500 is down 19.6%.
