Liverpool: ‘Stay indoors’ public told after shots fired at Showcase Cinema

Emergency services are at a cinema in Liverpool after shots were fired.

People in Liverpool are being told to stay indoors after shots were fired in two separate locations.

Police said they were called to Showcase Cinema on the East Lancashire Road at about 20:50 GMT, after they were alerted that a man had entered the venue and fired a gun.

About 20 minutes earlier a gun was also fired in an incident at a business on nearby Lower House Lane in the city.

No one has been injured, and the public are being asked to stay indoors.

Images on social media showed a large number of armed and local policing officers in the area.

Merseyside Police has called the incident “fast moving”.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the force.
