U.S. stocks finished sharply higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average rising nearly 750 points as the major indexes capped off their biggest weekly advance since June, according to Dow Jones Market Data. The S&P 500 SPX finished 86.97 points, or 2.4%, higher at 3,752.75, logging a weekly gain of 4.8%. The Dow DJIA closed 748.97 points, or 2.5%, higher at 31,082.56, rising 4.9% for the week. The Nasdaq Composite COMP advanced 244.87 points, or 2.3%, to 10,859.72, a weekly gain of 5.2%. The sharp rally in stocks during the final trading day of the week was accompanied by a drop in 2-year Treasury yields as investors digested a Wall Street Journal report about the Federal Reserve shifting toward smaller interest-rate hikes after the central bank’s early November meeting.
