Chicago improv institution Second City to open Brooklyn location

Read Time:37 Second

The legendary Chicago improvisational-theater company Second City is set to open a location in New York, its first, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. The new location, in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, is to consist of an 11,900-square-foot space comprising a mainstage theater, seven classrooms, and a restaurant and bar, Crain’s reported. The comedy institution, founded in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago in 1959, expanded decades ago to Toronto. The Chicago and Toronto troupes have both served as pipelines to NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” and other network comedy programs as well as to Hollywood.
