McConnell says he’s ‘comfortable’ with gun-bill framework

Read Time:36 Second

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday said he would support a bill to curb gun violence if it mirrors a framework released over the weekend. “For myself I’m comfortable with the framework and if the legislation ends up reflecting what the framework indicates, I’ll be supporting,” the Kentucky Republican said at a Capitol Hill news conference. On Sunday, Senate bargainers announced the framework of a bipartisan response to last month’s mass shootings. It offers modest gun curbs and stepped-up efforts to improve school safety and mental health programs, as the Associated Press summarizes.
