U.S. to announce more Russia sanctions this week, says Biden aide

The U.S. will announce more sanctions against Russia “this week” over its invasion of Ukraine, President Joe Biden’s National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said Monday. Biden on Monday also called for a war crimes trial for Russian President Vladimir Putin, calling him “brutal” after reports of civilian massacres in Bucha, Ukraine. Briefing reporters at the White House, Sullivan said the next phase of the Russia-Ukraine conflict “may very well be protracted,” and measured in months or longer.
